About the
Opportunity:
The Center is seeking candidates for the position of Consultant in our Washington D.C. office. This position involves working in small teams to provide healthcare related analytics to a multitude of clients including employers, healthcare systems, managed care organizations and government agencies. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to projects that make an impact and help shape the healthcare environment.
Familiarity and experience with Excel and statistical programming packages such as STATA, SAS, R, Matlab, or Mathematica are required. Candidates must be highly motivated problem solvers, analytical, detail oriented, able to work independently or in teams, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates must display a strong work ethic. An interest and prior experience in health economics or public health is preferred. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of experience.
Primary
Duties:
A Consultant is
expected to undertake various analytic tasks, both quantitative and
qualitative, to ensure the production of high quality analysis. A Consultant
will make tangible contributions to the Center’s work product by:
- Conducting
extensive research into both industry-specific matters and empirical methods
- Compiling and
synthesizing information from various sources
- Producing written
summaries of both qualitative and quantitative data
- Analyzing data
quality and integrity using statistical packages such as Stata and SAS
- Performing data
analysis with programming languages such as STATA, Visual Basic, and SAS to
meet client needs
- Preparing memos
detailing the operational components of projects including data sources, key
data elements, and
statistical
programs/techniques used in preparing the dataset or conducting the analysis
- Auditing their
own as well as colleagues’ work to ensure quality
Basic
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in the areas of Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or other field relevant to data analysis with a minimum GPA of 3.4
- Minimum 1+ years
of relevant work experience is required. Internships will be taken into
consideration
- Experience with Excel and statistical programming packages such as STATA, Visual Basic, SAS, R, Matlab or Mathematica
Preferred
Skills:
- An understanding
and interest in manipulation and analysis of data
- Skills and
experience in data visualization.
- Attention to
detail
- Ability to learn
and thrive in a project-driven environment with time-sensitive deliverables
- Prior experience
in a data analytics role, preferably within a research organization
- Proficiency in
STATA
- Experience
