About the Role
Our Forensic Technology team in China works with corporations, governments and law firms to meet with legal, regulatory and investigative demands by leveraging our skills to enable our clients to more confidently govern, secure, find, analyze and rapidly understand their data in the context of compliance and risk.
This Consultant position is a part of FTI Consulting’s Technology team based in Shanghai, China. Our Technology team delivers a large portfolio of services relating to the identification, preservation, processing, analysis and review of electronically stored information in connection with litigation, regulatory, or internal investigation matters.
We are growing rapidly across Asia and are looking to hire more high caliber people to add to the team in Shanghai. As part of the Shanghai based team, you will be cross-trained in various forensic technology and e-discovery skills and will assist on all phases of our projects. In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with our global network of member firms and work alongside diverse teams across Asia and beyond.
What You’ll Do:
Your primary responsibility is to be part of a cross-functional team that manages all areas related to the collection, migration, processing, analysis, conversion, quality assurance, tracking, and management of client data.
You will need to:
Liaise with clients and project managers regarding client requests and manage expectations
Plan and execute electronic evidence collection exercises, on-site at client premises in the PRC and abroad.
Utilise industry standard and bespoke software to access, extract and cull data from electronic evidence sources.
Accountable for day-to-day data processing, conversion, analysis, quality control, import, and other specialized tasks including interaction with other consultants, supervisors, and client personnel.
Liaise with other teams and manage expectations on client requests.
Meet client deadlines, including working out of business hours, and out of the PRC when necessary.
Conduct internal training sessions to consultants.
Involve yourself in providing product enhancement feedback and coordinating the deployment of tools and processes to the wider Asia team.
Co-ordinate closely with colleagues within and across teams to manage the delivery of client requirements.
Be customer-service-oriented to meet client deadlines, including working out of business hours when necessary.
Travel as required to ensure effective management of case activities. (Minimal notice possible).

Basic Qualifications:
Consultant Position: 1-2 years relevant experience preferred; exceptional recent graduates are welcome to apply;
Senior Consultant Position: Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience. Experienced in eDiscovery or forensic technology related role in a professional services firm.
A degree in a technology focused subject such as computer science, forensic computing or information systems, or equivalent experience in professional services firms.
Familiarity with personal computer and server hardware, operating systems and software.
Experience of working in a forensic technology related role in a professional services firm.
Experience in the forensic collection of electronic evidence for use in court.
· Able to travel to client and FTI regional offices as required, and to attend regional/global meetings outside standard working hours.
Preferred Skills:
Working knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
Solid Knowledge and experience in the use of Computer Forensic tools such as EnCase, Axiom, Forensic Toolkit (FTK), NUIX, Cellebrite, Oxygen, Blacklight, and/or open source (Linux) forensic tools.
Solid Experience with mobile device data preservation and analysis software (for iOS and Android).
Solid Experience with data preservation hardware tools such as FastBloc or the Tableau range.
Solid Experience in processing data in Nuix or equivalent data processing platforms, Knowledge / familiarity with Nuix scripting.
Knowledge of document review platforms such as Relativity or Nuix Discover (formerly Ringtail).
Experience in using SQL and relational databases.
Litigation support experience.
Familiarity of data manipulation using MS Access, Excel and Tableau.
Knowledge of programming (Python, C++, Java, Visual Basic, PERL).
An ability to solve complex problems with well thought out innovative solutions.
Professional certifications including EnCE / CCE / ACE and RCA a plus.
