About the Opportunity:

We are looking for an individual with considerable experience in managing and analyzing large, complex algorithms and data sets used in auctions and dispute advisory work. Particularly, the ideal candidate will be able to identify and initiate analytical tasks and present data visualizations without much direction. We have a strong preference for an individual with experience in managing and analyzing auction data. The data scientist should be able to use a vast array of analytical tools and skills (such as combinatorics and ability to code complex algorithms in programming languages such as, Python, R and/or SQL) to generate clear and concise work product for client presentations and expert reports.

We expect the candidate to be able to manage and guide the team’s computing challenges. The data scientist should be passionate about the intersection of technology and social-scientific research, and be up to date on the latest technology used in auction algorithms and data analysis.

Primary Duties:

  • Combinatorial analysis of large auction data sets
  • Statistical and econometric analysis of large datasets
  • Establishing optimized procedures for data collection and storage
  • Assist in preparation of expert reports in Federal and State courts
  • Uploading and processing of large datasets
  • Assist with maintaining the team’s server – includes updating the latest versions of various software used and ensuring the server runs smoothly and efficiently for the multiple users in our group

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Math, Applied Math, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or Statistics.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data analytics, dispute advisory consulting or healthcare related business.

 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Python
  • Proficient in using a variety of tools to handle large data, such as SQL Server and/or Hadoop
  • Familiarity with an object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C++
  • Proficient in statistical or econometric software programs such as R, Stata, and/or SAS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services is preferred
  • Ability to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations
  • Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems
