About The Role

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our EMEA Finance team for a Finance Manager to be based in the Benelux region. Working in an EMEA region wide Finance department of approximately 100 finance professionals we are scaling up our country based finance teams and seeking to build on our existing team of 4 in Benelux. This role will support our growing business in Netherlands, Belgium and the Nordics.

 

This role reports to the Benelux Finance Director and will be a key role in preparing financial statements for the Benelux region to support the business growth. The role will collaborate with leaders across EMEA Finance: Segment Finance Controller, Corporate Financial Controller, Payroll, Shared Services, Tax and Financial Planning & Analysis.

 

What You’ll Do

 

Direct responsibilities:

 

  • Management of the month-end financial close process with results reported to US HQ and Segmental teams
  • Preparation of business intelligence to enable management to understand business performance
  • Support the Benelux Finance Director in managing all Benelux and Nordic finance requirements
  • Revenue recognition processes
    • Review of order to cash process ensuring correct system setup for accurate revenue recognition accounting
    • Review of sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition processes in place
    • Continuous review of Work in Progress and AR, with client facing teams, to ensure recoverability and collectability
    • Prepare and post monthly journal entries to record work in progress (‘WIP’), accounts receivable reserves, bad debt expense, and other adjustments.
  • Finance management
    • Review of remainder of the financial statements covering expenses and balance sheet
    • Ensuring timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
    • Review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations of Benelux finance team members
  • Go-to person for all accounting issues for the Benelux; technical accounting, finance processes and approvals
  • Involved in all SEC accounting disclosures relating to the Benelux region, partnering with the corporate and regional technical accounting teams and internal audit to ensure all compliance deliverables are met timely and accurately
  • Participate in Benelux region Sarbanes-Oxley Act internal controls (SOX) ensuring the controls are operating effectively. Ensure that all SOX requirements are met through a continuous review process and ownership of periodic SOX testing by the internal audit function
  • Management of all US GAAP audit procedures and requirements (concerning the Benelux region), for group wide audit
  • Management of all external statutory audits across the Benelux and Nordic geographies: Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Denmark and Sweden (KPMG are FTI’s external auditor).
  • Involvement in VAT submissions

 

Other

 

  • Develop a deep understanding of FTI business in the Benelux and EMEA region
  • Involvement in monthly revenue estimates
  • Alert to accounting changes in the region and implement into the statutory reporting processes
  • Liaise with external accounting, payroll and tax providers to manage data flows and reporting of key financial deliverables

What You Will Need to Succeed

You will be an established Finance Manager, with approximately 7+ years’ experience, ideally in a medium to large global organization with experiencing of internal management reporting, external statutory reporting and audit exposure (we prepare both Belgium and Netherlands GAAP financial statements). Hands on experience of ASC 606 (US GAAP) / IFRS 15 Revenue recognition will be an advantage as the role will be involved in revenue recognition judgements and interaction with client facing teams. You will have experience of working within a robust internal control framework (FTI is a SOX regulated organization) and be comfortable ensuring the business and finance processes adhere to these foundational processes, and familiar with internal audit/SOX testing processes. You will be well versed in one of US GAAP, IFRS, Belgium GAAP (HSGB), or Netherlands GAAP.

Finance & accounting

 

  • Strong core finance and accounting skills, good working knowledge of US GAAP (or IFRS), Belgium GAAP, or Netherlands GAAP
  • Ability to translate detailed financial information into a clear business story to enable management and segment teams to understand results
  • Pragmatic and hands on individual – able to dig into the detail

 

Other competencies

 

  • Masters / Degree level qualification
  • Fluent in Dutch or French, and English
  • Qualified accountant upwards of 7 years’ experience at Financial Manager level
  • Hands on knowledge of VAT reporting requirements
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate with multiple contacts and external accounting service providers across the EMEA region
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethical standards and unquestionable integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of a professional services environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Committed and tolerance to irregular hours due to reporting deadlines
