About the Role

The role is part of our national Accounts Services function within the Corporate Finance & Restructuring (‘CF&R’) team at FTI Consulting.

The Accounts Services team provides bookkeeping and banking support to CF&R’s client-facing staff in respect of insolvency engagements and is integral to CF&R successfully administering these. Companies over which CF&R is appointed are often distressed businesses, many of which continue to trade under the control of CF&R’s appointees.

The role is permanent, full-time, national, and supports client-facing staff in the Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth CF&R practices. The internal title will be Accounts Services Assistant.

Duties include bookkeeping using the Insol6 Insolvency Case Management software (formerly ‘MYOB Insol’) (‘Insol6’), general transaction processing and management/support, banking assistance using various on-line banking platforms, preparation of draft statutory documents/returns and various other accounts service-related responsibilities such as those set out below.  

What You’ll Do

Working within a well-established and progressive team, you will:

  • Provide banking/funds handling/treasury support to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth CF&R staff with respect to their client needs, including monitoring and handling client funds (banking, opening and closing bank accounts and other liaison with banks as required, Insol6 / bank reporting)
  • Case management and recording transactions , including creating new client records, processing receipts/payments/ journal entries, performing back reconciliations, payroll, dividend distributions, entering/updating employee/creditor information and updating client Chart of Accounts
  • Assist with managing/monitoring client ATO registration and reporting obligations (GST/PAYG/STP), draft BAS, attend to GST payables, monitor GST receivables, liaise with ATO as required
  • Draft statutory accounts of receipts and payments and monitor compliance with various statutory deadlines 
  • Prepare/manage periodical control reports/registers 
  • Undertake daily bank transaction downloads from various bank platforms 
  • Assist with, and arrange timely closure of finalised client matters, including bank account closures and closing/archiving client cases
  • Various ad hoc duties and project work relating to the Accounts Services function as required 

How You’ll Grow

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is currently undertaking accounting studies, or an experienced accounts officer or bookkeeper with proven, hands-on experience looking to work in a dynamic, supportive work environment. We will provide you with the necessary training. 
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to partner with senior personnel to implement and drive a wide variety of performance improvement initiatives and greater operational efficiencies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1-2 years’ bookkeeping, treasury, accounts or payroll experience  
  • Bookkeeping qualifications, highly regarded 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment  
  • Experience using Insol6/MYOB Insol Insolvency Case Management Software and/or Turnkey IPS software, highly regarded but not essential
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and strong problem-solving abilities 
  • Intermediate Excel and Word skills 
  • Strong time management and organisational skills 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
