About the Role
We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including financial communications, corporate reputation, transaction communications and public affairs in all the major markets around the world.

FTI serves as a trusted strategic communications advisor to company management and Boards of Directors seeking to seize opportunities, manage crises, navigate market disruptions, articulate their brand, stake a competitive position, and preserve their permission to operate.  

Within Financial Services, we work with some of the largest and most impactful names in the sector to help them tell their stories and defend their enterprise value.  Our offerings include strategic communications/PR and public affairs advocacy, crisis and litigation communications, M&A and restructuring, shareholder activism and proxy advisory, and thought leadership and research.

As a Managing Director on the Financial Services team, you will lead client teams and provide communications counsel to manage financial, regulatory, and reputational challenges - including influencing the outcomes of crisis, litigation, legislative/regulatory matters.  A successful Managing Director will be confident in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, have the ability to develop and maintain strong “trusted advisor” relationships with clients, effectively manage teams and collaborate with peers, craft and execute strategy, and identify new business opportunities for the firm.  

What You'll Do

Qualified candidates must possess and demonstrate

• Extensive experience advising corporate leaders including C-Suite on a range of critical reputational and positioning issues.
• Identify risks and manage issues surrounding congressional investigations, regulatory enforcements, litigation, and other issues
• Demonstrated success navigating challenging policy, political, and business challenges in the financial services industry
• Play major role in creation of communications plans and goals; Serve as daily client contact and act as client lead when appropriate; address client issues thoughtfully and effectively.
• Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations, including creating and driving both traditional and social media outreach plans as part of contingency plans
• Lead and support day-to-day account management

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

Business Development
• Proactivity: Identify emerging opportunities to add greater value for clients
• Resourcefulness: Recognize and apply global and regional social, economic and other impactful policy trends, and translating those insights into actionable ideas
• Connectivity: Develop and maintain relationships with C-suite leaders, applicable trade associations, journalists/media outlets, think tanks and relevant industry figures

Client Service 
• Strategic Counsel: providing expert communications, advocacy, positioning and other strategic counsel to clients
•Account Management: managing multiple accounts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Demonstrate understanding of client information – including strategy, services, stakeholders, and competitive landscape
• Commercial Excellence: overseeing/managing budgets, invoicing, etc.

Practice Leadership
• Lead account teams on complex strategic communications challenges
• Own a revenue target, proactively prospect and maintain client relationships
• Actively manage, develop, inspire, and motivate team of consultants to excel.
• Anticipate potential challenges and evaluate strategies with senior management

Basic Qualifications
This position would suit an individual with over 12+ years of experience of financial services, agency, or journalism experience, with strong knowledge and network within the financial services industry. This is a terrific opportunity for a motivated, ambitious self-starter to lead a team and manage a portfolio of accounts. Must be comfortable developing new business and persistent in the pursuit of potential new clients and transactions. Applicants should be analytical and intellectually curious, in addition to having strong media, copywriting, and client skills.
