About the Opportunity

 

The company is looking for a mission-focused, strategic and process-minded leader to direct its accounting, business support, financial planning & analysis (“FPA”) functions for the FLC and Health Solutions segments.  Reporting to both the Operations and FLC practice leaders, with indirect responsibility to the CFO/Controller; the Finance Director will have overall responsibility for providing accurate accounting, quality analysis and support to the business while ensuring that shared service support functions are operating effectively (including transactions processing, core accounting and revenue recognition).

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

General:

  • Assist the Segment Leaders in looking after daily optimization of various financial operations in various internal functions within the segment;
  • Advise Segment Leaders and senior management regarding strategic issues within the segment, and provide suggestions for making key changes in various practices, business decisions and communications;
  • Partner closely with the FLC core accounting support team/Corporate Technical Accounting/Consolidations teams and regional shared service centers  to ensure that the financial statements correctly reflect results of the business and transactions are properly approved and analyzed (i.e. revenue, payroll, billing, accounts payable, etc.);
  • Liaise with various functional corporate leaders and SMDs to ensure activities and decisions are integrated to achieve performance objectives;
  • Ensure that management financial information is communicated on a timely basis to facilitate appropriate decision making processes; 
  • Bridge segment and corporate objectives;
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and operating effectively;

Promote development, introduction and enhancement of decision support tools and assist in the development of future vision regarding strategic financial systems

 

Financial Management and Oversight:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget  and interim forecasts with the Segment Leaders, and implement approaches to achieve it;
  • Develop appropriate and timely management reporting capability regarding key drivers of business performance (financial analysis, key metrics scorecards, etc.) and deliver in the best way to enhance and support decision making capability;
  • Deliver presentations on budget/forecasts and relevant financial performance to segment, senior management team and Corporate;
  • Assist segment management in the annual compensation setting and bonus award process;
  • Assist in the assessment of acquisition targets and assist in coordinating integration activities for new practice hires;
  • Champion development of new processes with a bias towards best practice and automation;
  • Work closely with Corporate in the development of strategic integrated systems requirements, design and implementation;
  • Oversee all other financial and business planning and reporting activities, including:
    • Financial budgets and forecasts
    • Business policies and practices
    • Sub practice performance
    • Pricing and Matter profitability
    • Utilization/headcount tracking
    • Client matter set-up and management realization adjustments
    • Client billing
  • Ensure appropriate support models operate effectively and flow of information exists to effectively understand the financial statements of the Health Solutions segment from a financial analysis and business planning perspective
    • Revenue recognition
    • Compensation – bonus accruals, forgivable loans
    • Accounts receivable management – collections, write-offs
    • Information requirement management with international (regional centers)
    • SOX internal control standards for related activities – will become part of the approver chain for certain key expenditures, transactions
    • Implementation and monitoring of key accounting/ financial policies

Additional Duties

  • Work closely with other constituents to carry out other strategic objectives of the company including Corporate Accounting and FP&A, Financial Systems, HR, Legal and Tax
  • Demonstrate leadership and support in advancing company and segment objectives of profitability, professionalism and teamwork;
  • Assess current work structure,  capacity and capability of the departments’ supervised and work towards proper restructuring of team to support increased productivity and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, CPA desirable, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 15+ years experience overall; consulting industry experience preferred
  • Divisional business support role in a management capacity required
  • Experience dealing with international operations preferred
  • Current accounting and or finance experience, including supervisory experience.  Experience should include the ability to assess the internal control environment, adequacy of accounting systems and processes, familiarity with systems implementations, and ability to evaluate workflows and increase team efficiencies;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis, with understanding of systems in a professional services environment;
  • Skills should include budget development, strategic planning and personnel management; demonstrated success developing and monitoring processes to manage operations and work that involves high levels of collaboration

Reports to:  Segment Leaders with dotted line responsibility to the CFO/Controller

 

Supervises: Responsible for supervising segment finance staff and managing the efforts and results of the FLC and Corporate shared service teams who will jointly support certain key processes within the segment
