What You Will Need to Succeed
A genuine interest, ability and experience in applying economics, statistics/econometrics and data science to solve complex, unstructured problems.
A deep understanding of the core principles in economics (especially microeconomics), statistics, and econometrics.
To be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written reports, to explain complex analyses in simple, intuitive, and non-technical terms.
Genuine interest in using newer tools (e.g. LLMs) to supplement and refine work product in an appropriate way.
Strong attention to detail.
Basic Qualifications
A first-class or upper second undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in economics, statistics, econometrics, computer science or a related quantitative field from a university with a reputation for excellence in these subjects.
At least 4 years post-graduation professional experience in a role that requires the direct application of the above subjects. Examples include roles in economic consulting, advisory or financial services, economic research and policy analysis for a financial institution, industry regulator, regulated firm or think-tank.
Experience with using Python, R, or a similar programming language to implement statistical and econometric analyses and graphical visualisations of these.
Project management/workstream management experience.
Experience of managing and mentoring junior staff.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
An understanding of the basic principles of finance and accounting (especially in relation to valuation).
Experience with SQL for data management and retrieval.
Experience with Stata and MATLAB.
Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or scikit-learn.
