Senior Consultant, Disputes Advisory
About the Role
Our Forensic Accounting & Advisory Services practice undertakes a wide range of engagements, including complex commercial disputes, litigation support and expert witness engagements, business valuations, fraud investigations and financial investigations. Our clients include nearly all of the major global financial institutions, private equity houses, law firms and many corporates.
As a Senior Consultant, you will supervise, execute and complete client engagements, with responsibility for conducting accounting and financial analysis, and presenting your findings in a written form. You will have visibility across the whole engagement, allowing you to appreciate how each aspect of the engagement comes together to deliver a high-quality final product. In line with the complexity of the matter, you will be assisted by and supervise the work of junior staff. You will work directly with senior members of the team who will support and guide you throughout the engagement. Your professional development will be enhanced through internal and external training, on-the-job coaching and mentoring. You will develop a strong knowledge of the legal process, especially with regard to litigation and providing expert opinions, while making use of your established analytical, accounting and finance skills.
What You’ll Do
Conduct financial analysis using Microsoft Excel and other tools to solve problems, include loss and damage assessment
Review information received and identify further information required to complete the analysis
Analyse and interpret large volumes of information, including accounting, financial and banking records
Review financial statements for compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
Undertake research into companies and industries using Capital IQ and other data sources
Prepare expert reports, client reports and presentations that detail project scope, methodology and findings
Interact and meet with clients, including lawyers, in house counsel and senior accounting personnel
Develop project planning and management skills
Supervise the work of junior staff and provide coaching to junior team members
Undertake networking and marketing activities to develop professional contacts
Assist senior team members with new business development activities
Contribute to company initiatives and team development activities

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related disciplines
Completed or working towards an Australian or internationally recognised professional accounting qualification
3-5 years of professional accounting experience, including experience such as forensic accounting, business valuations, auditing and/or management accounting
Strong understanding of, and interest in, forensic accounting
Proficiency in both written and spoken English required
Experience in writing reports
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
Detailed knowledge of accounting principles
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications
Adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle and analyse complex financial information
Experience of leading small teams
Ability to work on multiple client matters at one time
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Ability to work with senior team members and the client in demanding, deadline-driven situations
Strong work ethic and integrity, and high level of professionalism
This role may require travel to client and FTI offices
