About the Role 

FTI’s Construction, Projects, & Assets Practice works with a wide array of sectors around the world from infrastructure to energy to petrochemicals covering a variety of topics ranging from delay and quantum analysis to organizational transformation and competitiveness improvement.

We are seeking a Senior Director to enter our fast-growing team to support our clients on their most pressing challenges associated with asset management from project conception to asset construction to competitiveness improvement and futureproofing of the capital project pipeline.

 

What You’ll Do 

A Senior Director is responsible for providing clients with guidance in various spheres of business, including corporate strategy, business transformation, and digital and innovation capabilities across the pillars of people, process, data, and technology.  These responsibilities include performing functions to identify and solve complex business, organizational, and operational challenges while defining and improving associated processes.  A Senior Director frequently leads engagements or complex workstreams within larger engagements – managing client expectations, billing, resources required for delivery, and other day to day operational activities.  Additionally, Senior Directors play a pivotal role in the business development process, working to develop proposals including scope of work, success metrics, staffing models, and more.

 

Tasks may include:

  • Leading CP&A Consulting projects across the practice that may include strategic plans, organizational assessments, capability maturity assessments of project and asset management capabilities, market analysis, digital transformation, asset management, and organizational change management
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on a range of projects and/or asset management functions including growth capital, sustaining capital, construction, maintenance, shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages, decommissioning, etc.
  • Building relationships with all appropriate stakeholders and key leads in various areas to ensure overall project success
  • Providing subject matter expertise to drive best practice-based solutions on Project and Portfolio Management processes and/or Project Management Information Systems
  • Performing project delivery process assessments, define requirements, and develop processes for project and/or portfolio strategy and planning, project risk management, project management, and supporting functional areas
  • Developing client-facing materials with Microsoft Office products, using skill in PowerPoint to turn textual information into compelling and cohesive stories, articulating an argument and using easily understood graphics
  • Developing engagement specific approaches to Training and Organizational Change Management 
  • Seeking for new, different, and innovative ways to leverage existing and new consulting capabilities to improve performance, improve business results, and create buy-in and commitment within client organizations – pushing the boundaries and capabilities of our integrated delivery teams
  • Mentoring, coaching, and training CP&A Consultants, Senior Consultants, Directors and Senior Directors and supervising activity performed either as Engagement Lead or Coach
  • Working with regional and global CP&A Leadership team in developing business goals for focus areas, industries, and geographies and executing strategic plan to achieve them
  • Representing FTI Consulting on panels, webinars, speaking engagements, etc. as a Subject Matter Expert in core focus areas including Strategic Advisory, Management Consulting, Technology Enablement & Data Intelligence, Portfolio, Program and Project Management Office (3PMO), and Asset Management

Basic Qualifications 

We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science/Engineering in one of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or from an accredited university. 

Required Experience

We would like you to be able to hit the ground running - therefore you will at least 10 years of Strategy consulting  experience in traditional project support/manufacturing/consulting roles in premier consultancy.

Given the nature of the projects that we have underway a successful candidate, should also two or more low- to medium-sized projects with minimal to no supervision, while also actively driving business development to grow the practice area.

Our work is highly focused on translating complex and opaque data into actionable plans for our clients and customers, to this end, high-level fluency is required in the following digital tools:

  • Microsoft Excel (with VBA/Python programming skills a significant plus)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (using advanced Add-in functionalities to maximize presentation quality)
  • Data historian systems (e.g., PI, Uniformance)
  • Primavera (or equivalent mechanical planning/scheduling platforms) 

Successful candidates must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English with significant priority given to bilingual candidates having fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
