About the Role

FTI Consulting’s Technology Segment is seeking a Data Privacy Senior Director with experience in HIPAA Compliance regulatory requirements to work on our Digital Insights & Risk Management engagements.   When Personally Identifiable Information and Personal Health Information is involved and compliance is at risk, the Senior Director will support our clients in the development of privacy programs, data architecture, solution design, risk analysis, analytics, automation, and product development projects, and will also assist clients generally around Digital Insights & Risk Management.

In this role, you will assess, advise upon, design, build, and maintain solutions that address unique challenges of personal data use, monetization, anonymization, reporting, monitoring, and data management. You'll be a part of setting an innovative vision for the practice and involved in supporting projects across all of FTI Technology’s service areas where challenging personal data issues arise.  You’ll be called upon to collaborate internally and externally and serve as an important voice to the market for FTI’s data privacy services.

Given the complexity and overlapping pieces of our client’s digital risk we have a holistic approach in which consultants will also support and work in areas such as investigations, information governance, electronic discovery (eDiscovery), compliance, etc related to the collection of computer and digital data, digital forensics, cyber investigations, data management, document review consulting, and engagement project management.

 

What You'll Do 

  • Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies to clients
  • Build cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
  • Develop and deliver privacy operation program plans for global corporate clients
  • Provide detailed level information to clients around HIPAA, CCPA, CPRA, PIPL, GDPR, LGPD, PIPEDA among other domestic and global privacy laws
  • Manage/oversee implementation of data privacy compliance processes, risk management and control implementation efforts and execution of privacy maturity and risk assessments and resources to ensure deadlines, client needs, and budgets are met within scope
  • Manage multiple large, complex and potentially long-term engagements and clients
  • Manage client expectations at all levels of the organization, including supporting in-person presentations to senior level executives
  • Manage creation/editing of final client deliverables
  • Manage/oversee risk management and control implementation efforts
  • Manage/oversee drafting policies, standards, and other data privacy guidance documents
  • Develop and manage project budgets, review invoices for consistency, and ensure that invoices are delivered in a timely manner
  • Act as a leader and project a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel

  • Develop coaching and mentoring relationship with the junior team
  • Work collaboratively with internal team members and external client stakeholders to deliver a high-quality work product
  • Develops proposals and respond to RFP/RFI’s
  • Build relationships with other FTI professionals, cross-sell into different industries and services, and participate in FTI and industry events where subject matter expertise is requested
  • Mentor and coach junior consultants as they grow in their expertise

 

 

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • 7+ years of post-graduate professional experience in data privacy with experience in US and global privacy laws and regulations
  • 3+ years of post-graduate professional experience in HIPAA Compliance regulatory requirements
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentials in the privacy or security domain (e.g. CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, CISSP)
  • Experience with PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO, HITECH & Security Privacy
  • Experience with HIPAA Security Omnibus Rules
  • Experience developing, implementing and maintaining the privacy and security of PHI / ePHI policies and procedures
  • Experience with both Business Associates & Covered Entities from a HIPAA Compliance aspect
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, answering questions on policies, tracking violations, and creating documentation
  • Experience creating a risk management plan to counter vulnerabilities documented during a risk assessment
  • Experience creating contingency planning for data to ensure it is recoverable, frequently backed-up and encrypted; This also includes testing and documenting the back-up and recovery plans
  • Strong proficiency in windows and related software, such as Microsoft Power Point
  • Outstanding client service in demanding, deadline-driven situations
  • Understand enterprise risk management framework and its alignment with business strategy. 
  • Knowledge of privacy enabling technology and broader enterprise IT frameworks
  • Ability to analyze and assess data privacy control capabilities and provide remediation recommendations
  • Juris Doctorate or other relevant master’s degree
  • Project management and organization skills
