About The Team
The Securities, Commodities, and Derivatives (SCD) Practice advises clients on a wide range of matters and provides them with innovative, analytical and strategic solutions at critical times.
Our work includes complex valuation matters including exotic derivatives and customized portfolio analytics; risk management and derivatives hedging advisory; independent expertise and testimony in disputes; transactions (e.g. M&A) and restructuring advisory; business transformation; integrated due diligence; and independent business reviews. Our clients are hedge fund managers, broker dealers, asset managers, private equity firms, regulators, commodity traders, energy companies, and mining and metal processing firms.
We combine deep industry knowledge and academic rigor: our team is made of true experts. They have contributed to the theory, written seminal books on derivatives, traded global markets across asset classes, built and managed leading trading businesses in major financial institutions, and advised on high-profile transactions and litigation.
What You’ll Do
The role will primarily entail the development and application of valuation and risk models to price financial securities and derivatives across all asset classes using FTI’s proprietary quantitative analytics framework, known as Quantum. A Senior Director will work directly with clients to analyze, value, and model portfolios ranging from simple securities to complex bespoke derivatives. A Senior Director will be expected to develop appropriate models to meet the needs of the client, implement the models, summarize the analysis and findings in written reports, and present the work products verbally to both internal and external audiences.
Senior Directors are primarily involved with the Securities, Commodities. and Derivatives practice team but may be involved with other practices at FTI, with a focus on the financial, commodity and energy markets. The SCD team works closely with team’s throughout FTI Consulting and a Senior Director will be continuously exposed to new areas of FTI. Senior Directors will also develop and manage a network of professional relationships with clients and others.

- the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines whilst having to rely on input provided by others

What You Will Need To Succeed
Basic Qualifications
- MS/MSc, PhD in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science etc.)
- 10+ years relevant work experience as a front office quantitative analyst in a hedge fund, asset manager, or bank developing and implementing models for valuation or risk management purposes
- A strong understanding of financial instruments, derivatives valuation, and risk management techniques across asset classes (equity, interest rate, fixed income, credit, FX, commodities, energy/power, crypto)
- Advanced working knowledge of Python, including Numpy, Pandas, and other analytical packages
- Sufficient relevant professional experience to demonstrate the ability to be an effective SCD Senior Director and alignment with our firm’s values of integrity, creativity, achievement, respect and empathy
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively, verbally and in writing, both internally and with clients, including those who are not subject matter experts
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with global financial market policies and regulations
- Experience managing a team of analysts
- Cloud computing services experience (AWS/Azure/Google)
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience in working with ML/AI models in finance
- Experience with Linux and LaTeX
- Working knowledge of database systems and financial data providers (e.g. Bloomberg)
