About the Role 

FTI Consulting’s Business Transformation (“BT”) team in Sydney is seeking a dynamic Senior Consultant or Director with 3 to 6 years of professional experience in turnaround strategy, financial due diligence, stakeholder engagement, M&A, restructuring advisory, and/or operational performance improvement. 

Our BT experts work with corporates, private equity funds (including their portfolio companies), lenders, and other key stakeholders to support value creation efforts, optimise growth and operating costs, optimise balance sheets, drive transaction outcomes, and manage event-driven change, often in challenging or accelerated situations.

Our services include strategic and business planning, profitability improvement (both cost-out and revenue enhancement), data & analytics, commercial and financial due diligence (buy side and sell side), special situations transactions advisory, financial modelling, and interim management support.

The team also works closely with and provides support to FTI Consulting’s broader Corporate Finance and Restructuring (“CF&R”) segment which focusses on our client’s strategic, operational, financial and capital needs, and addresses the full spectrum of financial and transactional opportunities and challenges managed by their boards, management teams, private equity sponsors, lenders, and other stakeholders.

 

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Consultant or Director with 3 to 6 years of experience, you will collaborate with our clients and internal project teams across the entire company lifecycle, in domestic and multinational companies across a variety of industries. In the role, you will:

  • Analyse various business’ operations and financial performance;
  • Critically assess, develop, and implement business strategies;
  • Build financial models;
  • Undertake commercial and/or financial due diligence;
  • Undertake capital market transactions (including debt and equity raisings);
  • Project manage and implement initiatives for clients, with responsibilities across both internal stakeholders and client relationships;
  • Help mentor and train junior staff, on and off projects, and provide internal thought leadership on various topics;
  • Prepare presentations, reports and quantitative exhibits for clients and third parties; and
  • Build important client and industry relationships, as well as internal networks with other FTI Consulting service areas.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in a corporate finance, strategy consulting, restructuring, or special situations transactions firm, or relevant experience from similar roles;
  • CFA and/or CA/CPA qualification preferred, but not essential;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills;
  • Strong financial modelling and presentation-style report writing experience is preferable;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and other team members; and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
