Practice Summary

 

The Corporate Finance and Restructuring segment of FTI Consulting provides complete support in turnaround and restructuring/insolvency, corporate advisory services, business transformation and corporate recovery. Our team has over 30 years global experience working on some of the most high-profile restructurings and insolvency cases, including Lehman Brothers, General Motors, SurfStitch, Kagara, Queensland Nickel and Laura Ashley. Our Business Transformation practice which houses our non-distressed services provides practical assistance to Boards and executives throughout the business lifecycle, often in situations of disruption and circumstance driven events. Our team has helped companies optimise their working capital, conduct buy/sell side due diligence, optimise, restructure and carve out underperforming business units and integrate businesses following M&A transactions over a diverse range of industries

 

Our clients include nearly all of the major global financial institutions, many corporates, private equity and law firms. 

 

 

Position Summary

 

As an Associate, you will be required to work on client engagements under the supervision of more senior members of the team.

Some of your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the trade-on of distressed entities including cashflow management, facilitating the relationships with suppliers and customers and management of the accounting system
  • Assist with the preparation and conduct of creditors meetings
  • Attend client’s site to secure the premises, its assets and books and records
  • Assist with conducting investigations into the demise of the Company and compiling reports to ASIC and creditors as to the affairs of the Company
  • Liaise with stakeholders in all aspects of the business including regulatory bodies, suppliers, customers and lenders
  • Supporting FTI teams who are helping boards and management teams to navigate through periods of underperformance or stress
  • Financial modelling and analysis to be used in reports such as financial due diligence and independent business reviews
  • Assist in projects relating to the optimisation of working capital to release additional cash in companies
  • Assist in business transformation strategies of the client including business process and reporting improvements
  • Assist in projects where mandated to act as the selling agent
  • Undertaking company and industry research to support business development opportunities
  • Attending networking events representing FTI Consulting in front of clients and prospects

Key Requirements


This position is an entry level role. We are looking for candidates who possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Commerce, majoring in Accounting (or university equivalent Degree);
  • Enrolment in (or intention to pursue) an Australian or internationally recognised professional qualification in accounting;
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills;
  • Solid stakeholder management and communication skills (both verbal and written);
  • Familiarity with internet-based financial research resources for corporate information, exchange filings, competitive data, and other relevant data;
  • Flexibility with respect to assigned tasks and engagements due to challenging deadlines, changing deliverables, and evolving task priorities;
  • Willingness to travel when requested; and
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with a strong attention to detail in deadline driven situations.
