About the Role

 

We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of strategic communications that leverages our integrated suite of services, including financial communications, corporate reputation, transaction communications and public affairs in all the major markets around the world.

 

We are currently looking for a Graduate Intern to join our Financial Communications team. The Graduate Intern will be expected to develop and execute client engagements primarily related to ongoing Investor Relations (“IR”) counsel, which may also include event-driven work including M&A, IPOs, spin-offs, SPACs, shareholder activism, C-suite transitions and business transformations. The individual will collaborate within and across FTI’s Strategic Communications practices to support and advise clients. Additionally, the individual will serve as a primary point of contact for clients, including senior level investor relations officers and C-suite executives. The individual will also participate in new business development activities as well as other key practice initiatives.

 

What You'll Do

 

A successful Graduate Intern will be dynamic and confident in a fast-paced environment with strong project management expertise and have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients while effectively working in a team environment including managing junior-level team members and collaborating with peers and practice leaders.

For Clients:

·       Act as project manager for accounts and play a primary role in developing and implementing best practice IR strategies and programs.

·       Address client deliverables and show proactive thinking.

·       Demonstrate an understanding of each client’s business, market, investment thesis, shareholder base and sell-side analyst coverage; translate this knowledge into solution-oriented ideas to address client issues and needs.

·       Perform detailed and accurate research to underpin all client projects and deliverables.

·       Draft financial communications materials, including but not limited to:  press releases, earnings call scripts, conference presentations, messaging and Q&A documents and Board presentations.

·       Work with colleagues in other practices to ensure the execution of cohesive, multi-disciplinary communications programs.

·       Understand and live by FTI’s values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice, and work with junior staff to embed these concepts within the firm’s culture. For New Business Development:

·       Lead research efforts to inform pursuits and new business pitches

·       Work with colleagues to produce business pitch materials and create tailored presentations.

 

For FTI’s Financial Communications practice:

·       Actively manage, develop, inspire, and motivate junior-level team members to excel.

·       Effectively manage account teams and large workstreams including leading internal meetings.

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, English, Journalism, Corporate Communications or related field 
  • 3+ years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in investor relations, investment banking, sell-side research, or asset management.
  • Currently enrolled in an MBA or relevant Master’s Degree.
  • Prior project management experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Ability to concisely articulate a company’s equity story.
  • Analytical skills to identify and diagnose key issues, misperceptions and factors impacting a company’s valuation as well as the solutions to fix/mitigate them.
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of and familiarity with financial markets, the regulatory landscape, and the investment community.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills – both in a large group and smaller meetings.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
  • Capacity to adjust behavior to meet client needs and personalities and to establish positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals both internally and externally.
  • Proficient in Factset, Refinitiv or Capital IQ.
  • CFA or FSA Credentials are a plus.
