ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is a unique opportunity to be in the center of a major transformation of a ~$2B company, with tremendous opportunity for growth and upside either within the corporate team or in line roles within our business segments.
We have built a strong corporate center to drive the transformation, and we are looking for top performers to join the Strategy & Transformation team. The team at FTI directly supports the CEO, FTI’s Executive Committee, and other senior leaders within FTI’s corporate infrastructure teams on strategic and change initiatives including:
• Defining the overall corporate strategy across FTI’s portfolio of businesses
• Identifying and driving organic growth opportunities within the segments
• Supporting M&A / business development activity (due diligence, valuation, integration)
• Improving processes within internal corporate functions (e.g., Finance, HR, IT, Real Estate)
• Maintaining the firm’s world-class client service and go-to-market practices
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Leads project strategy for multiple projects simultaneously from beginning to end supporting the senior business leader, along with providing expertise and
support to other initiatives the S&T team has underway.
• Leads and mentors project teams, including mentoring and coaching other MDs and junior staff on leading projects.
• Drives innovative thinking on strategy development and problem solving based on own experience and others' expertise; supports risk-taking by others.
• Uses deep expertise in Strategy/Finance to structure approaches to address complex projects and ambiguous problems, understands and articulates the potential paths to solutions, and aligns the right people/resources against the right work streams.
• Helps the team to prioritize analyses, develop work plans and eliminate roadblocks; "manages upward" to avoid overloading the team, and "manages downward" to ensure timely delivery of quality work product.
• Manages and conducts objective analysis/research on current and emerging market trends, firm competitors, project/staff management, financial performance, key operating metrics, and other related topics to inform strategic options.
• Translates strategies into actionable plans with clear owners, timing/milestones and deliverables.
• Clearly summarizes gathered data and facts, develops logical and compelling storylines and presentations, confidently communicates/presents findings to Executive Committee and to other senior management; Expresses own opinion supported by data/facts.
• Develops various business scenarios and financial models based on changing economic, regulatory and other trends; effectively communicates financial implications to senior management.
• Understands the budgeting/forecast processes, e.g., linking with business strategy, projecting revenue and expense from both a top-down and bottoms-up approach, assessing risks and opportunities.
• Influences optimal allocation of resources through budgeting, forecasting, planning, variance analysis, and in co-ordination with corporate and line functions.
• Assists in the development, consistent definition, tracking and reporting of key financial and operational performance indicators.
• Understands key business drivers and how to translate business problems into relevant/understandable financial analysis that can be used for decision making
• Understands GAAP accounting principles and is familiar with reporting requirements for a publicly traded company, e.g., quarterly filings (particularly MD&A), investor relations.
• Proactively manages team, restructuring where necessary, to deliver optimal output
• Develops deep, trusted advisor relationships with Executive Committee members and senior management.
• Writes in compelling ways in both vertical and horizontal formats; creatively conveys analyses, data, insights and recommendations.
• Demonstrates a high tolerance for ambiguity; deals well with unexpected and adverse situations.
• Strives for high-quality deliverables; drives projects to deliver impact for the firm.
• Understands how his/her efforts/projects fits into the broader business context/strategy.
• Travels (~10%) to other FTI offices as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 10 - 12 years of experience
• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Project planning and management
• Executive-level communication and influence
• Experience in strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting
• Detail oriented and dependable
• High degree of ethical responsibility
• Passion for driving lasting change
• Strong leadership skills
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Advanced degree, e.g., MBA
• CFA/CPA desirable
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Proven ability to structure, analyze and develop options to address complex issues using a hypothesis driven approach
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including flexibility to work/collaborate effectively with a range of personalities
• Experience with analyzing financial statements, operations and management reporting processes and systems
• Experience performing variance and trend financial analysis
• Familiarity with reporting/analytical requirements for publicly traded companies
• Familiarity with financial systems, e.g., TM1, Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, database or other query or reporting writing tools
• Ability to effectively work in a team under tight deadlines to deliver quality output
• Ability to prepare and deliver compelling and high-quality presentations for senior management/stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders with common and/or conflicting interests
• Self-aware and proactively seeks out opportunities to address development areas; is open to and responsive to coaching/ feedback
