ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

This role is a position within our Joburg office where you’ll be responsible for marketing planning and delivery across South Africa and selected African countries (our region) as identified by business needs for all practice areas. You will be the solo marketing person in our region, but you will be working alongside the broader EMEA corporate marketing and communications team.

 

The role will require frequent dialogue with Senior Managing Directors (SMDs) and Managing Directors (MDs) in the relevant practice areas in South Africa to understand marketing needs and to design and deliver activities accordingly. You will be a marketing adviser for all practice areas within the South Africa offices, working to raise awareness of the firm’s presence in Africa, to enhance its reputation as a leading adviser, drive creation of new client relationships, coordinate response to market opportunities, collaborate with functional teams to design the approach and content of proposals, and manage the end-to-end proposal process.


 

Primary duties:

  • Working closely with SMDs and MDs and marketing colleagues to develop and manage the marketing strategy, planning, monitoring and most importantly to deliver activity for all practice areas within the continent
  • Deliver campaigns/ marketing programmes including thought leadership, client communications, PR, events and sponsorships
  • Supporting all practice areas with the development of pitch materials including ownership and maintenance of CVs and credentials
  • Working with the wider marketing team, put processes in place to support practices in developing their CRM contact lists to promote better account penetration and marketing management
  • Work with external and in-house designers to produce brochure materials and client communications
  • Encourage greater collaboration between the firm’s practice areas through cross-practice marketing initiatives and involvement in EMEA wide initiatives
  • Deploy a range of marketing projects driven through the wider EMEA marketing team


Qualifications:

  •  Be educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Have a postgraduate marketing qualification (preferred)
  • English Language Skills essential


He or she will have the following experience / attributes:

  • Proven track record of delivering marcoms within the professional services sector.
  • Possess excellent marketing planning and most importantly delivery capabilities
  • An understanding of multi-channel marketing and experience of delivering compelling content tailored for the channel and audience
  • Be able to work effectively and confidently with multiple senior stakeholders within a complex ‘partnership’ type structure
  • Be an excellent influencer and communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Be able to work independently and to develop ideas and projects without supervision, as well as being effective as part of a team
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects and competing demands
  • Have experience of managing a marketing budget
  • Have experience of using CRM software and online mailing systems
  • Experience with media relations
  • Strong power point skills
