ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
 

The Strategic Communications practice of FTI Consulting is one of the world’s most highly regarded communications consultancies. We offer a broad base of disciplines across a variety of specialist sectors including financial services, retail and consumer, digital, natural resources, energy, public affairs, real estate, professional services, technology media telecoms (TMT) and life sciences.

 

This particular team advises both large international and small companies and brands on all aspects of corporate reputation including communications strategy, senior counsel. media relations, stakeholder engagement, thought leaderships and issues management. The team has a retained client base of over 60 companies across a variety of businesses including retailers, consumer goods manufacturers, leisure organisations, conglomerates, aerospace and automotive.  

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Director to join a growing team of over 16 professionals in London to manage corporate reputation mandates for some of our biggest clients, and to join our senior team in driving forward new business growth.

 
PRIMARY DUTIES:
 

Deliver to Clients

  • Support/lead on a number of programmes, including both retained and project work, ensuring that client programmes are agreed and project plans are implemented
  • Own client relationships with limited senior supervision; creatively preparing and delivering the client programme
  • Provide strategic advice to a portfolio of clients, manage account on a day-to-day basis and develop excellent relationships with client group. Focus on client retention through exemplary service delivery
  • Generate supportive media coverage for clients
  • Anticipate potentially difficult situations and be able to evaluate alternatives with senior executives 
Build the Business
  • Seek out new business leads and help convert them to profitable clients
  • Work alongside other senior members of the team on business development activities such as pitch preparation and delivery
  • Look to expand the team portfolio through business with existing clients and the broader FTI Group
  • Proactively network with media contacts and industry analysts, as well as potential clients 
Team Involvement
  • Play important mentoring / management role with junior members of the team, formally and informally
  • Demonstrate willingness to share knowledge, insights and experience with colleagues. Help foster a strong team focused culture
  • Ability to lead learning and development initiatives for junior team members, whilst having the willingness and interest to learn new skills for themselves
  • Participate in weekly team meetings by contributing ideas, managing agendas and deliverables
  • Share ideas and client information with the team
  • Develop relationships with other teams within FTI
 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in corporate reputation/B2B, preferably within an agency
  • Proven track record of leading successful programmes for clients in corporate and consumer communications
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to build strong rapport/relationships at all levels within FTI Consulting and client organisations
  • Time management and the ability to prioritise a varied workload and plan ahead
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy team
  • Takes a pragmatic and ‘can do’ approach
  • Possess or have the desire to develop excellent contacts with the media
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident and willing to challenge accepted ideas to create exceptional client programmes
  • An agenda-setter – capable of managing and driving the direction of multiple client accounts in a fast-paced and pressurised environment without day-to-day oversight
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 2:1 (or equivalent)
 
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Previous experience in a PR agency role
  • Displays gravitas, confidence and maturity, able to take the lead in team meetings
  • Intellectually strong, demonstrating an ability to deal with highly complex issues
  • Committed team orientated mindset, with a positive and collegial focus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Confident in advising on the use of new and established channels and tactics
  • Demonstrates energy and desire to provide exceptional client service
