ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

FTI’s Telecom, Media, and Technology (TMT) Practice is a dedicated group of over 70 experienced industry professionals based out of offices in Denver, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Francisco and Boston. We have been involved in almost every major media and telecom financial restructuring in the last decade, as well as in the operational restructuring, sale, valuation and refinancing of hundreds of companies in the sectors. Our professionals also have vast experience providing expert witness testimony and dispute analysis, economic analysis, merger integration services and general management consulting.

 

FTI TMT is seeking a heavily experienced consulting executive to serve as a Senior Director (SD), lead TMT’s Technology Management Consulting efforts and be a contributing member of the practice leadership team. This SD would drive development in the arena of general Management Consulting services. Requisite areas of effort include:

• Productizing various service offerings;

• Developing service delivery methodologies;

• Identifying target clients and industries;

• Identifying FTI’s resource and staffing gaps, and working to alleviate these;

• Developing external branding strategies;

• Developing pricing strategies;

• Developing pursuit methodologies and proposal processes;

• Creating the marketing plan;

• Practice management; and,

• Identifying, selling and serving clients. Specific responsibilities and qualifications include the following:


PRIMARY DUTIES:

 

Our Senior Directors have overall responsibility for growing FTI’s TMT business, expanding market awareness of our brand and service capabilities, service innovation, client management, and the development and retention of our consulting personnel. A successful SD will have a market presence and strong client reference list based on prior experience.

• The individual should possess an active network of client Board and C-suite contacts and proven ability to convert client references into new business. The ideal candidate will be able to originate at least $2 million in annual sales of operations management consulting services. Sales pursuits within FTI typically involve teaming with other leaders in selling various service capabilities.

• The role includes participating in the development and growth of FTI’s cross industry formal Technology Practice.

• Be able to build, cultivate, and manage client relationships while expanding the FTI TMT client portfolio.

• Exhibit leadership skills which serve as a model for FTI personnel, and which serve to engage and motivate superior performance. Recruit, train, develop and evaluate client service personnel.

• Demonstrate project management and client management expertise.

• Lead the production of client service methodology and engagement deliverables.

• Manage client engagement risk and exhibit creative problem solving techniques to address client service delivery challenges.

• Provide strategic insights to aid in guiding project direction and outcomes.

• Must be highly experienced in technology-enabled businesses and conversant with front office products and technologies

• Must have deep M&A experience in strategy, non-financial due diligences, and M&A integration/divestiture separation


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Extensive experience in identifying, assessing, selling and serving consulting engagements for TMT clients is required. The candidate must be recognized as an expert in the Technology sector.

• Broad and deep expertise in the area of Operations Management Consulting within the Technology sector.

• A Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university, advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant consulting experience, including with a nationally recognized firm.

• High degree of connectivity in late-stage Venture Capital funds, PE firms, etc. • Deep contacts within the Legal community.


PREFERRED SKILLS:

• High level of quantitative and qualitative capabilities, and critical thinking skills with expertise to drive service innovation and delivery in complex, ever-changing environments.

• Strong project management and leadership experience, including a proven ability to adapt to unanticipated challenges.

• Prior consulting experience in a nationally recognized professional services firm.

• Proficient knowledge of PC environment, including Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

• Results Orientation: Strong track record of delivery with strong reputation as a reliable specialist, able to meet clients’ needs with great attention to detail.

• Strategic Orientation: Candidates must have highly developed business acumen as their primary orientation and be readily able to engage in broader business issues.

• Influencing and Partnering: A change agent who is able to point to a strong track record of delivery in organizations where they led teams and have an engaging, energizing and collaborative personal style.

• Personal Motivation: An ambitious and entrepreneurial character that thrives in fast-paced environments and has a hands-on attitude with an ability to transform ideas into reality through execution.

• Ability to develop creative approaches and the solutions necessary to resolve complex problems.

• Ability to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations. Very action focused, flexible and responsive.

• Excellent listening, verbal, written and presentation communication skills. • Excellent analytical and organizational skills and strong influencing skills. • Strong leader who is a player–coach and is viewed by colleagues as a good mentor.

• Must be willing to travel weekly for practice development and client service, without a consistent schedule.
