About The Role

FTI Consulting is seeking a Senior Director (Maternity Cover) to join our Dublin office, supporting a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients. This fixed-term position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to FTI’s Strategic Communications work, with a focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) advisory.

In this role, you will provide strategic counsel to clients on ESG and sustainability strategies, governance practices, and responsible business communications, helping them to navigate the evolving expectations of investors, regulators, and wider stakeholders.

As a Senior Director, you will be responsible for managing client accounts, overseeing project delivery, and supporting the growth of FTI’s ESG & sustainability offering in Ireland. The role will also involve business development activities, such as identifying new opportunities, contributing to proposals, nurturing client relationships and engaging in thought leadership projects.

As part of FTI’s global network, you will collaborate with colleagues across Europe and internationally, contributing to cross-border mandates and sharing insights on emerging trends in ESG and corporate governance.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage ESG and corporate communications client accounts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality strategic advice and execution across sustainability, corporate reputation, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

• Advise clients on ESG strategy, disclosure, and positioning, helping them communicate their sustainability and governance commitments effectively to investors, regulators, employees, and wider stakeholders.

• Oversee ESG-related communications projects, coordinating input from team members and ensuring all deliverables meet client expectations, budgets, and deadlines.

• Develop and review key ESG communications materials, such as sustainability reports, governance reports and thought leadership pieces.

• Support business development activities, including identifying ESG-related opportunities, leading pitches, developing proposals, and strengthening relationships with existing and prospective clients.

• Monitor policy, media, and regulatory developments in ESG and corporate governance space across Ireland, the UK, and the EU, providing timely insights and strategic recommendations to clients.

• Collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues across FTI’s global ESG team to deliver integrated, cross-market support.

• Advise on stakeholder engagement and reputation management strategies, including interactions with institutional investors and proxy advisors.

• Mentor and support junior team members, fostering professional growth and maintaining a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

What You Will Need to Succeed

Candidates will be seasoned sustainability professionals with a deep understanding of ESG strategy, corporate governance and the evolving investor landscape. They will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, credibility with senior stakeholders, and the ability to translate complex sustainability and governance issues into clear, actionable communications strategies.

Basic Qualifications

• Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in ESG advisory, corporate governance, or sustainability communications, ideally within a consultancy, corporate, or financial services environment.

• In-depth knowledge of the corporate governance and sustainability regulatory frameworks in Ireland, the UK, and the EU.

• Proven ability to advise senior executives and boards on ESG positioning, disclosure, and stakeholder engagement strategies.

• Understanding of institutional investor expectations and emerging ESG trends in capital markets.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to craft clear, high-impact narratives on complex ESG topics.

• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing client accounts, mentoring colleagues, and managing cross-functional project teams.

• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical rigor, combined with the confidence and maturity to serve as a trusted advisor to FTI’s global client base.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with corporate leadership, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, finance, business, sustainability, or related disciplines.

• Experience working in a consultancy or advisory environment, particularly on ESG, corporate governance, or sustainability mandates.

• Track record of supporting business development, including proposals, pitches, or thought leadership initiatives.

• Familiarity with corporate reporting and disclosure frameworks, including ESG/sustainability reports, integrated reports, and investor communications.
