About the Opportunity: 

FTI Brussels is looking for a senior financial sector professional with a minimum of 10 years’ experience, predominantly in banking. The candidate should have deep financial services public affairs expertise, experience and affinity with consulting specialised in financial services or experience based on working on financial services within the European institutions or within financial institutions.

Responsibilities:

The position will report to the Head of Financial Services Brussels and the role will include expanding further the financial services practice in the area of banking, as well as guiding and developing the financial services team of 10 specialists.

We are looking for a colleague who is dynamic, respected in the sector and who wants to focus on senior client advice and management, new business generation and developing the team.

The role will include international client and new business work. The successful applicant will be expected to cooperate closely with FTI’s other offices, segments and our international financial services professionals in strategic communications, economics, corporate finance, forensic litigation consulting and technology.

Deliver to Clients
  • Lead on a number of programmes, including both retained and project work, ensuring that client programmes are agreed and project plans are implemented
  • Own client relationships; creatively preparing and delivering the client programme
  • Provide strategic advice to a portfolio of clients, manage accounts on a day-to-day basis and develop excellent relationships with client groups
  • Focus on client retention through exemplary service delivery
  • Anticipate potentially difficult situations and be able to evaluate alternatives with senior executives
  • Ability to analyse institutional and regulatory milestones, drafts and other proposals in order to build strategic tailored advice for clients.

Build the Business
  • Seek out new business leads and convert them to profitable clients
  • Work alongside other senior members of the team on business development activities such as pitch preparation and delivery 
  • Expand the portfolio through business with existing clients and the broader FTI group

Team Involvement
  • Project line management for the team working on your clients
  • Knowledge sharing and mentoring junior team members
  • Develop relationships with other teams within Strategic Communications and FTI

Networking
  • Proactively network with EU contacts and stakeholders as well as potential clients
  • Maintain and build further networks on different policy areas (within EU institutions specifically)

Basic qualifications:
  • Relevant public policy/ public affairs experience either in-house or consultancy in public affairs and wider comms
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Proven track record in delivering successful programmes for clients
  • Knowledge of the industry and related regulatory environments
  • Demonstrable ability and desire to drive business development and attract, retain and expand client relationships
  • Must have a strong network of relationships across the industry
  • A strong understanding of the EU & how it operates
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent contacts in industry and a desire to develop these further
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience
