A Day in the Life as a Consultant

As a Consultant, you will take an active role in supporting the day-to-day management of client accounts. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for managing both up and down within account teams to appropriately service client communications and investor relations programs. You will interact with and provide communications support at client companies; develop and execute communications strategies to deliver results and meet client expectations; draft documents for client use (including communications plans, strategy memos, press releases, interview preparation memos, etc.); provide perspective to clients on internal, peer, and market developments as such pertains to the media and marketplace; regularly plan for media interaction and converse with the media and investment communities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• Deliver high-quality work within project teams under minimal supervision

• Lead tasks related to media relations, crisis communications, investor relations, content marketing, and communication campaign management

• Assist senior team members in developing new business initiatives (e.g. conducting research on prospects, reviewing PowerPoint presentations and proposals, etc.)

• Actively contribute to both internal and client meetings by offering strategic and creative insights

• Maintain a self-driven passion to stay abreast of client issues and related industry trends, participate in industry networking events and inform team leaders of potential new business opportunities


What Are We Looking For?

• Strong time and priority management skills and an ability to juggle multiple client accounts

• Ability to communicate information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing across multiple disciplines

• A strong work ethic and an ability to be a self-starter

• Collaborative team player that also has the ability to work independently, take initiative and set priorities

• Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel and Word

• Experience in social media is a plus

 

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, economics, or a related field

• Minimum 1+ years of work experience in corporate communications, media relations, public relations, or related field
