Senior Director, Accounting Advisory Services - Melbourne or Sydney
About the Role
Our Accounting Advisory Services practice undertakes a wide range of engagements supporting and assisting our clients with complex accounting matters, the related commercial implications and the practical development & implementation of solutions. Our clients include public and private businesses, banks, private equity houses and law firms.
Our team of seasoned professionals has extensive experience supporting clients through regulatory & reporting matters, transactions & restructures, new accounting standards & restatements, accounting policy & control development, audit readiness & remediation.
As a Senior Director, you will supervise, execute and complete client engagements, with responsibility for conducting accounting and financial analysis, and presenting your findings in a written form. You will have visibility across the whole engagement, allowing you to appreciate how each aspect of the engagement comes together to deliver a high-quality final product. In line with the complexity of the matter, you will be assisted by and supervise the work of junior staff. You will work directly with senior members of the team who will support and guide you throughout the engagement. Your professional development will be enhanced through internal and external training, on-the-job coaching and mentoring. You will develop a strong knowledge of the accounting advisory process, especially with regard to application of accounting standards, problem definition and solution development, complex stakeholder management and communication, helping clients balance commercial – and often competing – objectives.
What You’ll Do
· Analyse the matter at hand, develop problem definition and design solutions considering reporting, compliance and commercial objectives
· Apply detailed knowledge of IFRS and other relevant accounting pronouncements
· Review contracts and other information received and identify further information required to complete the analysis
· Analyse and interpret highly complex information, including accounting, financial and other business records
· Prepare client reports and presentations that detail project scope, methodology and findings
· Interact and meet with clients, including CFO and other senior accounting personnel, their advisers and other stakeholders
· Transfer knowledge and help develop client understanding and capabilities
· Develop project plans and engagement management systems
· Supervise the work of junior staff and provide coaching to junior team members
· Build long-term relationships and undertake networking and marketing activities to develop professional contacts
· Assist senior team members with new business development activities
· Contribute to company initiatives and team development activities

Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines
· CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
· Professional accounting experience, including experience such as audit or other assurance
· Strong understanding of, and interest in, technical accounting advisory and the related compliance and commercial implications
· Proficiency in both written and spoken English required
· Extensive experience in writing reports
· Excellent language and interpretive skills
· Strong analytical and process analysis skills
· Detailed knowledge of accounting principles
· Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications
· Adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment
· Strong attention to detail and ability to handle and analyse complex financial information
· Experience of leading small teams
· Ability to work on multiple client matters at one time
· Ability to work independently with limited supervision
· Ability to work with senior team members and the client in demanding, deadline-driven situations
· Strong work ethic and integrity, and high level of professionalism
· This role may require travel to client and FTI offices
