Practice Summary

The Corporate Finance and Restructuring/Insolvency segment of FTI Consulting provides complete support in turnaround and restructuring/insolvency, transaction advisory services and corporate recovery. Our team has over 30 years global experience working on some of the most high profile restructurings and insolvency cases, including Lehman Brothers, General Motors, Kagara, Queensland Nickel and Laura Ashley. Our clients include nearly all of the major global financial institutions, private equity houses, city law firms and many corporates. 

 

Position Summary

As an Associate, you will be required to work on client engagements under the supervision of more senior members of the team.

 

Some of your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the tasks associated with creditors meetings
  • Assist with the day-to-day running of distressed entities
  • Assist with conducting investigations, including liaising with relevant stakeholders
  • Reconstruct accounting records from incomplete information
  • Attend client sites and assist in carrying out duties and collating information required
  • Assist with the securing of assets
  • Apply the Corporations Act and other relevant legislation and case law where appropriate to a component of engagements
  • Prepare receipts and payment vouchers
  • Undertake company and industry research
  • Prepare statutory correspondence and forms

Key Requirements

This position is an entry level role. We are looking for candidates who possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting; and
  • Enrolment in (or intention to pursue) an Australia or internationally recognised professional qualification in accounting
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Familiarity with internet-based financial research resources for corporate information, exchange filings, competitive data, and other relevant data
  • Flexibility with respect to assigned tasks and engagements due to challenging deadlines, changing deliverables, and evolving task priorities
  • Willingness to travel when requested
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with a strong attention to detail in deadline driven situations
