About the Role
We are currently looking for a Consultant to join our Financial Communications team based in our New York office with a focus on Healthcare and Life Sciences, where you will primarily support team members in the execution of financial communications and Investor Relations (“IR”) programs. In this role, you will build the necessary subject matter expertise and proper skillset to service and advise clients ranging from startups through Fortune 500 companies on a range of company events, milestones, and complex issues. In addition to ongoing IR advisory programs, you will conduct a variety of capital markets-related research projects and assist on event-driven work including M&A, IPOs, spin-offs, SPACs, shareholder activism, C-suite transitions, ESG-related projects, and business transformations.
The individual will collaborate within and across FTI’s Strategic Communications practices to support and advise clients. As a Consultant, you will be tasked with staying up to date on key issues and current events for clients, as well as the healthcare sector and broader macro news and trends. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Primary Duties:
- For Clients:
- Have a thorough understanding of each client’s business, investment thesis, shareholder base and sell-side analyst coverage
- Perform detailed and accurate research to underpin all client projects and deliverables
- Contribute to strategic planning and messaging to support key financial, clinical, and corporate milestones (e.g. quarterly earnings, clinical trial readouts, regulatory approval, business development announcements)
- Assist team members in helping clients develop corporate and investor messaging to differentiate themselves from peers
- Monitor and report on broad financial markets, healthcare industry trends, peer companies, client stock movements and media coverage
- Incorporate both quantitative and qualitative analysis and work with senior team members to make recommendations for companies’ messaging and investor outreach strategies
- Obtain detailed feedback from institutional investors and work with senior team members to translate the commentary into useful advice for clients
- Research and report key findings around peer and industry best practices
- Draft client materials such as press releases, Q&A documents, and presentations under the direction of senior team members
- Complete targeting exercises and set up institutional investor meetings for clients
- Handle client account logistics such as drafting call agenda and recaps, distribution of press releases, set up of earnings conference calls and webcasts, corporate access events, etc.
- Have a thorough understanding of each client’s business, investment thesis, shareholder base and sell-side analyst coverage
- For the Healthcare and Life Sciences and Financial Communications Teams:
- Provide tactical support for new business pursuits as needed, including conducting research for new business pitches and with colleagues to produce new business pitch materials
- Assist Healthcare and Financial Communications Practice leaders to elevate FTI’s Strategic Communications standing within these respective fields
- Assist in building efficiencies within the broader Healthcare and Financial Communications practice teams by utilizing resources and leveraging prior relevant work for new projects that arise
- Continuously build out and improve the Healthcare and Financial Communications’ internal processes
- Provide tactical support for new business pursuits as needed, including conducting research for new business pitches and with colleagues to produce new business pitch materials
- Additional Tasks:
- Efficiently utilize research tools including but not limited to Refinitiv, FactSet, Bloomberg, EDGAR and AlphaSense
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and ask the necessary questions to manage firm and client data responsibly
- Efficiently utilize research tools including but not limited to Refinitiv, FactSet, Bloomberg, EDGAR and AlphaSense

What You’ll Need to Succeed
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience working in sell-side research, equity asset management, investment banking, investor relations, or other communications roles at a publicly listed company within the healthcare industry
- Experience analyzing public company financial data via 10-k / 10-Q documents, earnings reports, investor presentations and other company materials
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills
- Proficient skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and possess a service-oriented attitude
- Ability to absorb constructive feedback and grow from a variety of experiences
- Ability to stay well organized, remain adaptive under pressure and manage multiple project timelines / deadlines effectively while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated proficiency in some financial and investor relations systems (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to recognize, explore and use a broad range of ideas and practices, thinking logically and creatively without influence from personal bias
- Ability to establish positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals
- Ability to manage priorities between multiple client assignments
- Ability to connect the dots and leverage existing materials to create efficiencies in deliverables
