The Strategic Communications segment of FTI Consulting is one of the world’s most highly regarded communications consultancies with a 30-year track record of designing and executing communications strategies for clients managing financial, regulatory and reputational challenges. Position Summary

We are seeking to hire a Consultant/Senior Consultant to join an ambitious and growth-minded team in India, based in Mumbai.

As one of our Consultants/Senior Consultants, you will have the opportunity to learn and implement a full range of strategic communications services including performing industry research and analysis, executing corporate communications, financial communications, media relations and issues management activities, and writing client materials. Our Senior Consultants play a key role in advising FTI's international clients across a number of different industries.

You should have excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and be a collegiate team player. You should also be mature, results-oriented, able to multi-task and prepared to learn and utilise new and emerging approaches to communications as part of a leading global communications consultancy business. The successful candidate will be entering a company that has a range of globally-leading domestic and multinational clients in the country, including a number of Fortune500 companies. While you will be expected to contribute to new business development, the successful candidate will be able to join a number of exciting and challenging client accounts, serving a range of household corporate names from day one.

A Day in the Life of a Consultant/Senior Consultant
  • Assist with client counsel on all aspects of their communications programmes
  • Provide input into and draft various communications materials for client programmes across our different offerings of corporate communications, public affairs and financial communications areas (e.g. communications strategies, press releases, client memos, stakeholder and issues mapping, and briefing documents). 
  • Deliver high-quality work within project teams.
  • Under guidance and supervision, lead various tasks related to corporate communications and media relations engagements ranging from executive profiling and brand positioning to issues and crisis management and top-tier media engagement.
  • Assist senior team members in developing new business initiatives (e.g. conducting research on prospects, developing strategic approaches and ideas, reviewing PowerPoint presentations and proposals, etc.).
  • Actively contribute to both internal and client meetings by offering strategic and creative insights.
  • Maintain a self-driven passion to stay abreast of client issues and related industry trends, participate in industry networking events and inform team leaders of potential new business opportunities.
Depending on experience levels and ability, FTI Consulting will also consider hiring at levels above the Consultant level. Note that Senior Consultants will also be expected to supervise the work of junior staff and provide coaching to junior team members.

What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher. Majors in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Business Administration or a similar field will be a plus but is not necessary.
  • Preferably possess 4-6 years (Consultant) or 6-9 years (Senior Consultant) of relevant communications experience in a communications consultancy or a corporation. Experience in corporate or financial communiations will be a plus. 
  • Fluency in English required, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Social and eager to learn, and have an ability to work well within a team.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching junior team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with senior team members and the client in demanding, deadline-driven situations. 
  • Ability to present to small groups, internally and externally
  • A collegiate and collaborative team player that also has the ability to work independently, take initiative and set priorities.
  • A collegiate approach to working in a diverse team across the Asia region and also globally to handle requests from international clients.
  • An aptitude and desire for learning and ongoing development.
Candidates with more experience will be considered as Senior Consultant.
