The European Corporate Finance/Restructuring Practice is a market leading restructuring practice based in London, Frankfurt and Madrid capable of delivering the most complex financial restructuring solutions to stakeholder groups. We provide advice and support in respect of restructurings, valuation, M&A, transaction support and transaction tax to all of the major European banks, private equity houses, city law firms and many corporates.

About the Roles:

We are currently seeking talented and ambitious individuals at the Senior Consultant level to join our London based Restructuring team.

Typical assignments within the team include cash / liquidity and working capital management, business reviews, financial advisory, financial restructuring, financial, operational and commercial due diligence, valuation, operational restructuring, contingency planning and insolvency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist/day to day management of the engagement, involving the delivery of our core offering, being cash / liquidity management, business reviews, financial restructuring advisory and contingency planning.  This will include:
o assisting in the business reviews through analysing the historical and future financial performance;
o with reference to the market / competition, assisting in establishing the viability and optimal strategy of a business;
o undertake variance / bridge analysis, identify reasons for underperformance;
o analyse and challenge the key underlying assumptions to a business plan and financial model review; and
o communicating findings, including report writing and oral presentations.

• Be proactive in the development of the business through:
o conducting research into potential opportunities and processing market intelligence opportunities;
o preparation of formal pitch presentations;
o attendance at client relationship building events;
o coaching on job and sharing best practice experience to assisting in the development of the team; and
o building and sharing personal relationship networks.

Education and Qualifications:

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a numerate subject
• ACA, ACCA or equivalent (1st time passes)

Skills and Competencies:

• An enthusiasm to learn and a clear vision for their career in restructuring
• An active interest in the restructuring market place and be familiar with recent transactions and news worthy events
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact with team members and clients at all levels
• Working in small teams, candidates should have excellent teaming skills, be flexible in approach and able to handle multiple tasks
• Strong commercial acumen / market awareness
• Logical and methodical approach to problem solving
• Highly numerate with the ability to absorb a high quantum of information
• Excellent organisational and planning skills and confident working with a number of demanding stakeholders
• Professional and proactive approach
• Results orientated
• Leadership skills
• Computer literate with advanced Excel and strong PowerPoint skills
• Second language preferred but not essential


• Qualified with up to 4 years post qualification experience
• Relevant corporate restructuring or transaction advisory experience either on behalf of creditors, corporates or private equity
• Starting to develop a professional network which is relevant to the London restructuring market
• Experience of managing teams
• Experience in delivering and managing restructuring/advisory work
• Sound appreciation of double entry accounting, GAAPs and interaction between financial statements, especially in relation to the cash impact
• Previous experience working within a ‘big 4’ preferred not essential
• Experience in analysis of historical and forecast financial performance and financial model review / data analysis
• Experience in report writing and / or drafting sections of larger reports
• Experience of discussing and presenting findings to either clients, other stakeholders or senior internal team members
