About the Role

The Director in Revenue Cycle and Financial Operations within our Healthcare Business Transformation practice plays a key leadership role advising physician groups, health systems, private equity and technology companies on strategies to optimize financial performance and operating effectiveness across the revenue cycle. This role leads complex client engagements from assessment through implementation, partners directly with client executives to align initiatives to enterprise priorities, and delivers measurable outcomes related to cost optimization, revenue enhancement, technology implementation and financial operations. The Director is accountable for developing workplans and team performance, ensuring quality and consistency of deliverables, and contributing to practice growth through thought leadership and business development.

What You'll Do

  • Lead end-to-end assessments of Revenue Cycle and Financial Operations, including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denial management, collections, and performance management.

  • Synthesize financial, operational, and clinical data to diagnose root causes, quantify value, and prioritize initiatives across the revenue cycle and financial operations.

  • Design transformation roadmaps and lead implementation of process, policy, and governance changes that reduce denials, accelerate cash, improve accuracy, and enhance the patient financial experience.

  • Serve as a primary advisor to client executives; develop and deliver executive-ready narratives, recommendations, and decision materials.

  • Own engagement delivery: define scope and approach, build and manage integrated workplans, oversee budgets and timelines, and ensure high-quality outcomes across all workstreams.

  • Lead and develop teams (FTI and client) through coaching, training, and performance feedback; set expectations and enable capability transfer.

  • Establish KPI frameworks and governance routines; monitor performance to sustain improvements post-engagement and drive continuous improvement.

  • Partner with technology and digital teams to optimize revenue cycle and financial operations systems, workflows, automation/AI, reporting and other bolt-on vendors.

  • Contribute to practice development through thought leadership, proposal support, and relationship building; stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in healthcare finance.

How You'll Grow

As a Director, you will partner with Senior Directors, Managing Directors, and Senior Managing Directors to lead client engagements, shape solutioning, and ensure project success. You will be accountable for managing and developing Consultants and Senior Consultants, producing executive-ready work products, and helping to build our Healthcare Business Transformation practice through mentoring, knowledge development, and business development support.

We are committed to empowering you to make your own impact. Helping you realize your potential and be fulfilled in your work is the best way to ensure success — for you, for FTI Consulting and for our clients. • Proven track record leading multi-workstream transformations, achieving measurable outcomes (e.g., denial reduction, cash acceleration, productivity, and quality improvements), and sustaining results.

  • Experience with major EHR/RCM platforms (Epic, Oracle/Cerner, Meditech, Athena, NextGen, etc.) and partnering with technology teams to improve end-to-end workflows and reporting.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and structured thinking skills; comfort working with large datasets to inform executive decisions.
