About The Role
FTI Consulting’s SEC & Accounting Advisory practice was established to support and assist companies addressing their most critical accounting and regulatory needs. Our team of seasoned accounting professionals which include former FASB, SEC and other regulatory professionals has extensive experience addressing complex accounting, investigative, and regulatory issues, including communications with regulators. FTI Consulting combines the responsiveness of a local practice with the deep technical skills, significant resources, and scalability of a global business advisory firm.
FTI is looking for CPAs with 5-9 years of public accounting experience. As a Director at FTI, you will be responsible for providing technical accounting and financial reporting advice and analysis to our clients covering a wide array of situations and transactions.
- Responsibility for the day-to-day activities of projects including interaction with client personnel, other team members, auditors, and professionals from other firms involved in the engagement
- Working with clients to provide expert advice on the accounting and financial reporting issues related to initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and complex financing arrangements
- Analyzing and documenting the accounting conclusions related to various technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition, complex debt and equity financings, share based compensation and business combinations
- Organizing information and analysis to support technical accounting conclusions on complex matters and communication of finding to clients
- Applying accounting, financial and analytical skills to various client situations and practice disciplines, such as detailed reviews of financial statements, related disclosures, and underlying accounting records and the application of GAAP to complex client transactions
- Perform industry and company research utilizing online tools and publicly available information, assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties, and develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
- Supervising and developing staff by providing on-engagement training, review and feedback.
- Working to deliver a quality product within established timeframes

What You Will Need To Succeed
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA or equivalent
- 5+ years of diverse external audit experience within public accounting
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills, with detailed knowledge of GAAP and SEC requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel to FTI office(s) as needed
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical accounting experience in the life sciences and pharmaceutical, technology and manufacturing industries
- Advanced analytical and issue resolution intelligence, problem solving is essential
- Ability to interface with team members and client personnel in demanding, deadline-driven situations
- Proficient with PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office applications
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Proficient use and analysis of computer models and development of dynamic spreadsheet applications
- A strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
- Ability and willingness to learn and adapt in an ever changing environment to meet client needs
