About North America Core Accounting (NACA):
FTI Consulting’s North America Core Accounting Team provides accounting support to our client service professionals and Segment Finance leadership in Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Forensic & Litigation Consulting, Technology, Economic Consulting, Strategic Communications and other Specialty Services so they are able to meet and exceed the needs of our clients. Accounting Professionals within the NACA team are dedicated to working together and delivering world class support across our global community.
What You'll Do:
This position will primarily focus on the accounting for segment finance activities, primarily revenue recognition for segments. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience with revenue recognition, reporting, and controls. This person will report to the NACA Senior Manager and interact with segment finance leads for revenue recognition.
Monthly Accounting Close
Revenue Recognition:
Review revenue journal entries and account reconciliations.
Manage, coach, and support Senior Revenue accountants.
Review sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
Calculate complex revenue reserves and document reserve assessment under ASC 606.
Create and analyze month-end reporting packages.
Document revenue-related policies and procedures.
Assess and document collectability risk due to aging WIP and AR.
Analyze and understand the practices within the segment to ensure proper revenue and expense recognition and proper setup in the system.
Identify process issues and implement improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Lead and improve month, quarter, and year-end close processes, reporting, and audits.
Review and sign-off on SOX controls and trackers to ensure we are SOX compliant.
Support other special projects and duties as directed by the North America Core Accounting Senior Manager.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of relevant Accounting experience or Big Four experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Strong and practical working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
Working knowledge of general ledger and other accounting/reporting systems.
Advanced knowledge of Excel required; Ability to organize and analyze a large volume of data.
Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines when needed.
Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Preferred Skills
CPA or CPA candidate.
Experience working with both domestic and international operating units.
Experience working in ERP environment.
