About The Role
In this role, a Managing Director is a subject matter expert (SME) and is adept at scoping, pitching and servicing large and global engagements. They are capable of being able to direct and produce a strategic approach and to incorporate research findings and insights into a communication or engagement strategy for clients. The ideal candidate will be familiar with, and a thought leader, in trends, best practices and able to develop, articulate and deliver on a vision for content and creative within the overall for the Digital & Insights practice. They will be as adept at articulating and pitching the big picture as they will at helping execute the work. On large assignments, they will be comfortable being a team lead of creative, digital and analytics team members. They will be responsible for profitably managing projects and profitably managing those who report to them. Help identify target audiences and develop digital and content strategies, and creative editorial campaigns to engage those audiences.
Collaborate with digital teams to design and drive omni-channel distribution campaigns for content
Collaborate with agency partners to design and drive high-impact earned and paid media integrations.
Our D&I team seeks an experienced Managing Director to join the team in the Washington, DC office. This individual will serve as our team’s DC leader and focus on building relationships and business growth for the Digital team, integrating digital with non-digital workstreams and managing and driving highly effective strategies and campaigns for a variety of major clients. They should be steeped in DC culture with experience in legislative and regulatory issues, campaign management and navigating the DC environment. Projects span a variety of industries including Public Affairs, Energy, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Industrials and others.
Client Delivery
· Provide expert services to clients in line with their respective business priorities
· Manage overall quality and delivery of work on multiple accounts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
· Oversee client budgets, business strategy, and be accountable for client account profitability Digital Strategy and Business Development
· Generate and lead new business development efforts
· Identify emerging opportunities to add greater value for clients
· Recognize and apply global and regional social, economic and other impactful policy trends, and translating those insights into actionable ideas
Practice Leadership
· Effectively lead account teams on complex client communications challenges
· Actively manage, develop, inspire, and motivate staff to excel
· Anticipate potential challenges and evaluate strategies with senior management
What You’ll Do
· Contribute to design and implementation of digital strategy for a variety of accounts across North America, including content creation, analytics, paid social media strategy and oversight, as well as project and account management.
· Serve as one of the day-to-day client contacts on accounts; manage the overall quality of work and client service by demonstrating professional and collaborative leadership.
· Collaborate with other team members on the research, planning, and development of integrated communication programs.
· Participate in preparing new business presentations and in some instances pitching potential new clients, as well as assist in growing existing accounts.
· Assist with ongoing program measurement and progress report development and work with managers to help clients assess their program needs.
· Demonstrate an aptitude for creative thinking and the ability to develop solutions and high-quality work that meets clients’ business and engagement objectives.
· Create client-ready deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
· Develop accurate project budgets and support billing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client invoices.
· Support the development, production and marketing of thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues.
· Effectively assign, delegate, coordinate, and monitor the work of firm team members assigned to client projects.

What You Will Need To Succeed
Basic Qualifications
Experience managing a content and/or creative/ and or digital team;
Experience with a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and analytics tools (formal training is preferred but not required);
Very strong writing skills;
Effectiveness in creating PowerPoint presentations of pitches and reports;
Excellent communications and time-management skills;
An approach to research that is highly collaborative, including enjoyment of sharing ideas, learning new approaches, and mentoring staff;
Experience in publicly presenting, consulting, session moderating.
Several years of experience managing research projects, including supervising staff and coordinating vendors;
At least 15+ years in a multi-client market communications agency or consulting practice, with simultaneous responsibilities for multiple projects
Strong verbal presentation and public speaking skills, including the ability to translate research terminology into commons language in both presenting and writing.
Minimum 10-12 years digital experience; agency or client-side experience
