About the Role


Our Strategic Communications division in Paris is currently seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead and grow its Public Affairs practice.

As a Managing Director, you will play a critical role in defining and driving the business development strategy of our Public Affairs practice in France. You will also lead and grow the Public Affairs team.

You will provide senior-level counsel and assist clients in developing multi-faceted communications strategies to shape and inform the political and policy environment.

You will collaborate closely with the global Public Affairs teams of FTI Consulting and actively contribute to their strategic initiatives for growth.

You will report to the Head of FTI Consulting Strategic Communications in France.

What You'll Do
Qualified candidates must demonstrate an excellent command of (1) at least one of our clients’ main sectors (Technology, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Financial Services, Energy); (2) the competitive landscape surrounding corporations in the space; and (3) legislative and regulatory issues that have the potential to impact them. 
Other responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

Client Delivery

  • Provide expert advocacy and related political communications counsel to clients in line with their respective business priorities
  • Manage overall quality and delivery of work on multiple accounts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Oversee client budgets, business strategy, and optimise client account profitability


Business Development

  • Generate and lead new business development efforts
  • Identify emerging opportunities to add greater value for clients
  • Recognize and apply global and regional social, economic and other impactful policy trends, translating those insights into actionable ideas
  • Possess, develop and maintain relationships with relevant policy makers, political audiences, regulators, trade associations, think tanks and industry leaders to enhance and grow business


Practice Leadership

  • Manage the practice with the top priority of growing the Public Affairs business
  • Provide senior level insights to lead account teams on complex client communication challenges
  • Manage, develop, inspire, and motivate staff to excel
  • Anticipate potential challenges and evaluate strategies with senior management


How You'll Grow
A successful Managing Director will be confident in an entrepreneurial environment, have the ability to secure and build strong client relationships, develop new business opportunities, stay abreast of industry developments, as well as contribute strongly to continually innovate the firm's offerings. 
Expected Qualifications & Experience
  • 10-15 years’ relevant experience developing and executing Public Affairs, Government Relations and advocacy strategies
  • Successful track record of leading and growing a team, a practice, a business
  • Strong network connections and recognized in political circles as a trusted advisor
  • Government, Parliament, Public Affairs or trade association experience 
  • Superior strategic thinking, excellent oral and written communications skills in both English and French
  • Successful experience in an international business environment
