About the Role
The Information Technology Group (ITG) is a collection of people, processes and technology investments that are designed to achieve the business goals of FTI Consulting.
The ITG Senior Applications Engineer provides secondary leadership and is the primary backup for one or more Matrix Teams. A matrix team is defined as a technical steering committee focused on the architecture, operational health, management, and monitoring of like systems grouped by technical function.
The ideal candidate will have a general background in IT, Finance, Economics, or Tax, with an in-depth understanding of IT principles, concepts, practices, and standards. They will be an experienced professional capable of exercising latitude and independence in their assignments and may have performance management responsibilities. The role involves developing solutions to complex technical problems while understanding both the process and technical aspects of these solutions. The candidate will recommend and establish procedures that impact the immediate work area. Work is performed under general direction, with participatory input into goals and objectives, and includes managing and measuring the effectiveness of work.
What You’ll Do
Conceive, design, and oversee the implementation of enterprise-wide systems development
Research and recommend software products to address business requirements
Ensure that the business and technical architecture of delivered solutions match customer requirements
Handle day to day sustaining activities for the FTI global enterprise application infrastructure
Execute and maintain operation calendars, incident reporting and tracking, FTI’s Change Management Control Process, and Comprehensive NOC Operations
Comply with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards when developing solutions
Analyze and maintain performance data to ensure optimal usage of software applications
Assist in the development and management of all budgetary expenses as it relates to the applications development teams
Cover and resolve any outstanding Service Desk related issues in an effort to help all IT members resolve tickets as quickly and efficiently as possible
Provide physical labor from time to time, which may include moving equipment, furniture, etc.
Provide support for other IT staff with open and unresolved issues
Provide on-call support via cellphone or pager 24 x 7
Exercise latitude and independence in assignments

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of relevant post-graduate application or software development related experience
Experience with SQL or scripting from database maintenance, reporting, and development
Experience with C++ development
Good understanding of Microsoft Windows Operating system
Strong experience with Active Directory
Experience with Azure
Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide sponsorship
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree
Experience with development of solutions in the Microsoft.Net development platform
Experience with support and maintenance of COTS Enterprise ERP solutions
High level certification in core area (MCAD, MCSD, or MCDBA)
Experience working with Windows 2003 server, IIS, SharePoint and SQL Server 2000 or 2005
Understands and applies policies and procedures
Project management experience
Has an in-depth understanding of IT principles, concepts, practices, and standards
