ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Within FTI Consulting, the Retail and Consumer products group is building a consulting practice that works to transform the financial and business performance of its clients.  The Business Improvement segment has five segments:  Business Strategy; Performance and Process; Office of the CFO Solutions (Finance Transformation); Merger Integration; and Carve-Outs and Transactions.

Business Strategy

We help clients balance strategic priorities and deliver enterprise value through strong business and financial planning.  Fully articulated business plans align initiatives and resources with financial performance.  Strategic communications works to build commitment from internal and external groups.

Performance and Process

FTI’s operational improvement team helps clients increase performance:  store portfolio or account optimization, promotional and digital marketing effectiveness, and product assessment.  Furthermore, our team has a vast array of applicable experience in regard to streamlining of SG&A and inventory optimization.

Office of the CFO Solutions (Finance Transformation)

Working collaboratively with CFOs, we provide objectivity, structure and creativity to design pragmatic solutions and plans of action that deliver value to their organizations, build sustainable business performance, and support companies in dealing with shareholders and preparing for financial transactions.

Merger Integration

We lead a structured and collaborative process among the merger parties to perform rigorous analysis and create integration strategies, detailed work plans, budgets and timetables.   Our goals are to achieve synergies by facilitating a rapid evaluation and implementation of headcount consolidation, IT systems integration, and full operational integration, with a heavy focus on maintaining strong customer experience.

Carve Outs and Transaction Advisory

FTI provides practical solutions to the complex challenges and opportunities facing corporations and private equity funds executing carve-out transactions.  When needed, FTI can also provide a turnkey team to stand up F&A and other key operations while permanent executives are being hired.  Similar services support IPO’s and other transactions.

Although not part of the Business Improvement practice, restructuring is a large and healthy business unit within FTI Consulting.  Many of our consultants work across practices, and we share many engagement and clients with this group.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Consultants are critical team members that execute client engagements and successfully partner with clients in delivery.  Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Supporting Directors and Senior Managing Directors in building this new line of business.

• Developing strong client relationships including taking a proactive approach and anticipating client needs.

• Delivering client engagements and completing administrative activities.

• Executing high-quality analysis and other deliverables.

• Participating in business development activities, such as writing proposals.

• Performing research on industry trends and technology.

• Participating in the writing of thought leadership pieces relevant to CFOs and this practice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Economics is required.

• A minimum of 4+ years of experience either with a Management Consulting firm or in a management role with a top-tier retailer or consumer products company. 

• Ability to travel up to 80%.
