We focus on our clients’ strategic, operational, financial, and capital needs by addressing the full spectrum of financial and transactional challenges faced by corporations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies and other stakeholders.

FTI Real Estate Solutions has a focus on the real estate and private capital industries. Our services are designed to create integrated financial, tax and private equity and real estate private equity solutions to serve market constituents. We provide a range of advisory services including merger and acquisitions, due diligence, valuation, lease consulting, forensic accounting, financial outsourcing, IPO preparation, tax structuring and compliance, executive compensation, master planning and development services, cost segregation and private client services. We represent leading public and private capital and real estate entities including private equity, equity and mortgage REITs, financial institutions, investment banks, opportunity funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, pension advisors and owners/developers.

What You’ll Do

We provide outsourced accounting services to both public and private companies, including REITs, mortgage finance companies, real estate and private equity funds, developers and operators.  The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring that real estate funds and fund managers are provided with accurate and timely accounting and reporting services, provide oversight of junior team members, and provide the highest level of service to our clients.

 

Accounting & Reporting:

 

  • Perform month-end and/or quarter end close, including updates of monthly workbook and financial statement variance analysis, post journal entries and prepare bank and general ledger reconciliations

  • Prepare financial statements, footnotes, and necessary support

  • Prepare Limited Partner and General Partners Allocations; calculations/schedules – including Management fees and Waterfall Incentive calculations

  • Prepare Partner Capital Statements

  • Validate financial information maintained by third party service providers

  • Potential exposure or assistance to ad hoc or special accounting projects

 

Operations:

  • Interact with Client Senior and Middle Management

  • Support investment acquisition and disposition activities at client’s

  • Review procedures and recommend solutions in order to improve efficiencies

  • Ensure adherence to all internal and external audit standards

  • Coordinate, manage and monitor client’s external audit process

  • Liaise with clients and assist them on accounting and administrative issues and relevant developments

  • Provide technical accounting/industry knowledge to clients

  • Implementation of fund structures onto accounting system

  • Oversee junior team members

  • Manage internal and project administration

 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience

  • CPA preferred

  • 8+ years real estate and/or private equity experience

  • Knowledge of property-level and portfolio accounting; understanding of consolidation and joint venture accounting

  • Sound knowledge of GAAP (Fair Value and/or Historical Cost)

  • Experience with fair value reporting for real estate investments and debt obligations

  • Experience in Performance Reporting – NCREIF a plus

  • Knowledge of Real Estate & Private Equity Funds Accounting

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Proficiency in month/quarter/annual closings for both US GAAP financial statements and preparation of related working papers or analyses

  • Experience with Yardi Voyager and Yardi Investment Accounting a plus

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to understand and communicate ideas clearly and effectively both verbally and in written English communications

  • Ability to take responsibility for various aspects of projects as well as the ability to suggest improvements and enhancements

  • Self-directed and motivated, with a focus on continuous improvement and process efficiency

  • Demonstrate a flexible and adaptable work style, prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments concurrently and work in a collaborative team environment under time constraints and tight deadlines
