About The Role

We are currently looking for a Director to join our Financial Communications team. The individual will develop and execute client engagements related to ongoing Investor Relations (“IR”) programs and event-driven work including M&A, IPOs, spin-offs, Capital Markets / Investor Days, shareholder activism, C-suite transitions and business transformations. The Director will collaborate within and across FTI’s Strategic Communications practices to support and advise clients on business critical matters. Additionally, the individual will serve as a primary point of contact for clients, including senior level investor relations officers and C-suite executives. The individual will also participate in new business development activities as well as other key practice initiatives.

 

A successful Director will be dynamic and confident in a fast-paced environment with strong project management expertise, and have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients while effectively working in a team environment including managing junior-level team members and collaborating with peers and practice leaders.

 

What You’ll Do

For Clients:

  • Play a major role in developing and implementing best practice IR strategies and programs
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative capital markets focused research to underpin all client projects and deliverables
  • Draft and review investor-facing communications materials, including press releases, earnings call scripts, conference presentations, messaging, Q&A documents and Board presentations
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of each client’s business, market, investment thesis, shareholder base and sell-side analyst coverage
  • Act as project manager and daily contact to address client issues thoughtfully and effectively across the spectrum of engagements
  • Support day-to-day management of multiple accounts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Work with colleagues in other practices to ensure the execution of cohesive, multi-disciplinary communications programs
  • Help clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity

 For New Business Development:

  • Identify emerging opportunities where FTI can add greater value for clients
  • Stay abreast of market developments and translate those insights into actionable business development opportunities
  • Work with colleagues to research new business targets, produce business pitch materials, create tailored sales presentations, and attend new business pitches
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate management teams, investment bankers and law firms to drive referral opportunities for FTI

For FTI’s Financial Communications Practice:

  • Actively manage, develop, inspire, and motivate junior-level team members to excel
  • Effectively manage account teams including driving “to do” meetings, strategy sessions and monthly and quarterly measurement and reporting
  • Take a leadership role in the Financial Communications Practice in thought leadership, product offerings, trainings and mentorship
  • Advance FTI’s Financial Communications practice standing in the field of IR, ESG, and M&A including active involvement in internal knowledge share activities and industry networking opportunities
  • Develop a full understanding of all of the Strategic Communications service offerings and be proficient enough to discuss them fluently in any client or sales situation

What You Will Need To Succeed  

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Finance, Business, Economics, or Mathematics, or related field
  • At least 5+ years of professional experience in investor relations, investment banking, sell-side research, or asset management is required
  • CFA and/or MBA is a plus
  • Ability to concisely articulate a company’s equity story
  • Analytical skills to identify and diagnose key issues, misperceptions and factors impacting a company’s valuation as well as the solutions to fix/mitigate them
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of and familiarity with financial markets, the regulatory landscape, and the investment community
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills – both in a large group and smaller meetings
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and possess a service-oriented attitude
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically and creatively
  • Strong organizational, time management skills, and ability to manage priorities between multiple client assignments
  • Capacity to adjust behavior to meet client needs and personalities and to establish positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals both internally and externally
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to direct a project from concept to conclusion and manage all levels of employees, including support staff, peers and senior managers
  • Proficient skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficient in Factset, AlphaSense, Bloomberg, Refinitiv or Capital IQ
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed
