About the Role

This position is a part of FTI Consulting’s Acuity team which includes supporting, coordinating, managing and participating in document reviews at the direction of FTI clients. As part of their role, this position will utilize various platforms including Relativity, Nuix Discovery and Reveal/Brainspace. 

The Document Review Manager is responsible for simultaneously managing multiple client matters as well as developing and initiating new relationships with existing and prospective clients. The Document Review Manager should be able to provide high-level substantive review workflow and review strategy advice to clients. You should be able to solely manage reviews and oversee review workflows with a focus towards maximizing efficiency and accuracy. You will be responsible for keeping reviews on budget and meeting client deadlines. Other responsibilities are to provide input for general management, including scheduling, resource allocation, revenue projections and operational processes and procedures.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Guide and manage reviews. Advise on review workflow and strategy, run reviews and manage client relationships from beginning to end of project and beyond project scope
  • Define the scope of work to include a list of deliverables and deadlines. Oversee progress of work to ensure delivery of all work product within established timeframes and standards of quality
  • Supervise review teams including train and guiding team leads and review teams
  • Work closely with operations and human resources team to on-board and off-board reviewers
  • Work closely with the client, the FTI service delivery team, and project review team to ensure that lines of communication between all project participants are established and maintained during the course of the engagement and that a mutual understanding of the scope of work and related costs exists between both parties
  • Coordinate, counsel, and manage project review team to ensure the accuracy and throughput of the document review
  • Manage several projects simultaneously
  • Monitor review speeds and progress on a regular basis with preparation of daily reporting
  • Implement and oversee a quality control protocol
  • Set up, supervise and complete a privilege log with attorney team
  • Provide detailed substantive review support for the client and project review team on the use of review tools on site, at client locations and remotely
  • Communicate with client and/or outside counsel to scope substantive parameters of the project, select proper review tool and repository, and estimate project timelines and budgets
  • Collaborate with client and/or outside counsel to develop review workflows based on the substantive requirements
  • Build and foster relationships with client and outside counsel contacts
  • Monitor costs weekly to escalate if review is exceeding budget estimates. Work with project manager to maintain communication with client and project team regarding changes to proposed work and budget
  • Ensure inputs to billing system accurately reflect case status, revenue projections and authorized budgets
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with other offices and segments in the firm. Promote uniformity of office procedures and consistent high quality of final work product
  • Travel as required possibly on short notice to ensure effective management of case activities, for internal trainings or meetings, and for external meetings or events with clients

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of post-graduate professional experience as a Review Manager managing review teams and overseeing the delivery of document review services
  • 3+ years of post-graduate professional experience supporting document review software applications
  • B.S. or a B.A. college degree
  • J.D.
  • Must be barred, active and in good standing
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Holding an active bar in the state where the applicant resides
  • Experience interfacing with clients
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to handle multiple tasks through prioritization and time management skills
  • Proficiency in a language other than English and experience supervising foreign language review
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing and working with people in a team environment
  • Experience managing Antitrust/Second Request, Data Privacy Breach or Foreign Corrupt Practices Act reviews
  • Deep knowledge of Relativity 
  • Familiarity with Nuix Discovery and Reveal/Brainspace
  • Experience supporting document review software applications in document-intensive cases
